Minecraft 1.13 Update
At long last, the server is now updated and running Minecraft 1.13. Unlike all other Minecraft updates in the lifespan of the server, this one in particular was quite excruciating to push through; in addition to introducing various new gameplay features, very major behind-the-scenes changes were made to the format of the game, which means we're more prone than ever to encounter new bugs and issues as we get settled with this update.
First things first, this update came with an enormous amount of data conversion. Nearly all aspects of the server, including plugin data and the world itself underwent major conversion processes, and although we tried our best to avoid any potential data loss on our end, things may still turn out to be out of place here and there. If you do notice that something is missing or out of place, and you consider it to be a concerning issue, please be sure to report it - same goes for any other new bugs you may discover with the plugins/server.
While the server itself is now updated, there are a few features that have been disabled until they receive an update of their own. The most important of these is the world generator, which simply put, cannot run on 1.13 without rewriting a large majority of it's code to comply with the major changes of world generation in 1.13. This translates to a number of limitations: new terrain with the new ocean biomes will unfortunately have to be delayed for some time, custom trees will temporarily not grow from saplings, and you may also experience some temporary issues with persistent structures, such as decreased/haulted spawn rates at villages/monuments.
The other major disabled feature is the ender chests, which need to undergo additional data conversion as their data format is currently custom/unconvensional. Once this is corrected and converted for 1.13, they will be re-enabled once again.
And that pretty much wraps up everything you should know about this update. Enjoy the long-awaited changes of 1.13!
Just in time for the holiday season, we've implemented a handful of themed tweaks and changes to the server, along with a few other notable adjustments.
The main attractions are the holiday themed spawn, and the new winter weather feature which transforms the world to give it a more holiday-spirited vibe; although it's only visual and will not actually affect the world, you can feel free to toggle the feature using the /winterweather command.
Voting and generally leveling up your RP will give you double supply tokens from now until mid January, along with the 25% off holiday sale lasting for the remainder of this month. Regarding in-game currency, all market stalls have dropped their minimum bid offer to one gold block, and as requested multiple times, the teleport cooldown has been cut down to 20 seconds for players with the default rank.
More technically, reconnection performance on server restarts has been significantly improved thanks to filtering of redundant resourse pack requests; if you have been relogging to avoid getting stuck in the reconnection process, rest assured that won't be necessary any longer.
A big thank you to everyone who was a member of the server this year; hopefully your experiences were unique and enjoyable as we always strive to offer them. We're looking forward to continue tweaking and improving on the server in the near future. Happy holidays!
Last Day Notice
Tomorrow (July 27) will very likely be the last full-day the server will be online until it's closed to make way for the transition period of the update. After the server is closed, you won't get the chance to go back again and screenshot/save your remaining builds, so be sure to do that tomorrow. If all goes to plan, the update should be released on Saturday the 29th.
A Follow Up
There have been quite a few concerns recently regarding the upcoming update, so it would only be appropriate to further elaborate on the update itself, but moreover on the current server, as most of you seem highly concerned about that and missing out the update aspect.
First things first, the update is not going anywhere. Many of you seem to forget the fact that a world reset is not by any means the reason for the update nor the update itself. The server has been completely remade, including a custom world, and it's only to enhance the experience going forward. Nobody likes resets, but unlike most other servers out there, a reset never comes without some sort of update to actually make it worthwhile, and this time that's especially the case. For those who don't wish to continue any longer after the update, your reasoning is completely understandable yet unfortunate, especially if you don't even care to give the remake a try.
Nearly all aspects of the server are being replaced, with the exception of ranks. If you have played on the server in the past week, your rank is already transferred to the new system and will be present for when the update launches. Claims, money, ender chest items and related progress will not be carried over as many of these aspects have also been replaced with custom alternatives. Mcmmo will not be installed on the updated server, although a leveling alternative will be present.
There will not be a global world download available for the current server world. If you desperately need your builds saved as a download, you can send an email and we'll likely figure something out. As the focus is centered around the update, your email will be ignored if it's not a reasonable nor legitimate request.
Also, please don't pester the staff members with questions or your opinions on the reset; they are not involved with the update process itself and won't be able to do much with your concerns apart from issuing a mute or ban if necessary.
For those staying to prosper in the remake, you can expect to see the server update in the coming week. All of the features are ready to go, with some last informative and technical aspects being finalized. More information on the release date will be posted in the coming days.
Some Exciting News!
Hi there fellow survivalist! There's going to be some major stuff coming to the server in the form of one big update very soon. We've heard and gathered your requests, thoughts, ideas, and formed them into what will hopefully be the ideal survival experience for everyone. With months in development, this will easily be the largest update to the server since the initial launch nearly 2 years ago.
As you might already be speculating, the update will unfortunately not be carried over to the current world; instead, a new and further unique one will be present to aid the contemporary features. It's important to note that the current world has been running strong for well over 18 months now, and it wouldn’t be as presentable or fitting for an update of such capacity. It's not recommend that you start any new projects at this point, but rather share or build upon what has already been created.
Hopefully you can sympathize with this reasoning regarding the world, and look forward to a fresh and unique new experience. There's no fixed release date yet, but you can expect to see the update in around a week, generally aimed to launch before August. Stay tuned!
Minecraft 1.12 Update
As many of you have likely noticed, Minecraft 1.12 "World of Color Update" was released earlier today with a plethora of exciting new features added to the game. As with any Minecraft update, we try our best to deliver support for the new versions as early as possible, and we're very close to completing all necessary updates on our behalf for the transition to Minecraft 1.12. The transition may happen as early as tomorrow depending on the availability of the server software, although it will more likely take place on Friday of this week. I'll be sure to keep you posted on any further updates regarding the transition.
Elytra Firework Boosters
After a few months of questions regarding the disabled elytra firework boosters, we're pleased to annouce that they are finally being re-enabled tomorrow. The boosters will have a cooldown between uses in order to keep your flight time on a reasonable balance, however, there is always the option to obtain a donator rank which will gradually decrease the cooldown period; you can visit the webstore for more information regarding this. As with any new feature, please be sure to let a staff member know if any new problems arise.
Happy New Year!
Hi fellow players of the AlpineRealm, hope your holidays are going great so far! On behalf of the AlpineRealm team, I would like to wish everyone a happy new year, and briefly reflect on the changes and successes which contributed to make the server as enjoyable and unique as you know it today.
2016 has been a year of faith, a year of growth, a year of struggles, and a year of change; but as a whole, 2016 was a game changing year for the entire server, with the original server reset/remake, vast additions of new custom plugins, installment of new hardware, and many more additions that made AlpineRealm more enjoyable than ever before. AlpineRealm was originally established out of desire for people to find a enjoyable, unique, and friendly environment, after harsh personal experiences playing Minecraft multiplayer survival at places which did not offer a welcoming, supportive and friendly atmosphere. Although the server is not perfect, it's become a true honer to know that hundreds of new players have found enjoyment playing on AlpineRealm this year. The community, including YOU, and your dedication is what inspires me to continue making the server grow and stay polished every single day, so I sincerely thank you for that.
I hope that all of you found AlpineRealm to be a positively unique and memorable experience in 2016, and I passionately look forward to make the server even more enjoyable in 2017! Happy new year, and stay awesome!
The server downtime for the past few hours has been resolved. Sorry for any inconveniences caused.
The server is now updated to Minecraft 1.11; slightly earlier than expected, but conveniently just before the weekend! Along with the update, both the nether and the end have been reset, and the world will be expanding soon to allow for even more new structures to generate. There may be issues as with any server version update, so please inform us through the contact page if you find any. Enjoy!
